The Best art Exhibitions Showing in Madrid this Autumn
This fall brings us interesting exhibitions in art galleries and museums in Madrid, and one of the best exhibitions is possibly from Spanish painter Salustiano (Seville, Protected content . He presents his collections “Presente Pluscuamperfecto” in Protected content Salustiano's artworks do not look like anything we have seen before, but at the same time they resort to artistic structures and representative languages that are part of our most primitive being. His paintings transcend the almost too beautiful exactness of reality; he goes far beyond the portraits by seducing the viewer, creating links with the spectator. His work has been widely exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. Now is the chance for us to appreciate the unquestionable talent of this International Spanish artist.
The next art gallery we are going to visit will be Protected content where we’ll enjoid the artworks by German Artist Lothar Hempel. His installatios and paiting from German history and Greek drama to European auteur filmmakers like Ingmar Bergman and Federico Fellini—Lothar Hempel is known for his stage set-like installations populated by life size cut out figures. Hempel, a former DJ who went to art school in Dusseldorf, Germany in the late 1980s, also creates films, line drawings, and paintings that employ vintage-looking images appropriated from magazines and film. Removed from their original context and collaged into abstract compositions that resemble works of modern art, Hempel’s figures often convey a sense of unplaceable nostalgia.
Then, we continued to Protected content
the group exhibition REWIND & REMASTER by ten Spanish artists.
They tell us about the replication, the appropriation in the art, in the era of technical reproducibility brought to the maximum power, all this through painting, photography, sculpture, etc
We’ll also visit the Protected content the art installation exhibition “Subtle Oblivion” by Hisae Ikenaga (México, Protected content , it is a series of works made up from tubular metal chair fragments coming from a factory will be presented. Said fragments are accompanied by laminated plywood and various found objects. The union of all of these parts, recycled and merged, generate pieces which evoque the wooden laminated tubular furniture popular in the Protected content and that were part of the artist’s generation’s childhood and adolescence. Her work of the last two years will be presented, produced under the auspices of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant.
The last art gallery we're going to visit is Antonio de Suñer Protected content
to see “Melancolia” serie Los Pintores by Álvaro Sellés. He, is a painter who makes huge portraits with a sculptural technique, revealing his mysteries or enigmas to invite the viewer to a trip, this time in grisaille. Thus he has cemented the most beautiful tribute he could make to the received wisdom, in which there are artists of stature, such as Giacometti, Palazuelo, Elena Asins, Bacon, Lucian Freud, Jean Michel Basquiat, Frida Khalo, el grupo El Paso and many others, all converted into references with which Sellés identifies himself.
Finally we could go together to take some tapas around the area.
See you friends!!!
