2018 Spring Festival Our Olden Days
The Thean Hou Temple is a 6-tiered temple to the Chinese sea goddess Mazu. It is also a Buddhist temple located on 1.67 acres of land atop Robson Heights on Lorong Bellamy, overlooking Jalan Syed Putra.
In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration and continuous festivity, the Hainan Association has a line up of interesting activities taking place at the grounds of the famous Thean Hou Temple from Mural Paintings to Traditional Market right upto Stage Performances Brimming with Festive atmosphere. Activities are as scheduled below:
The temple opens from 8.00 am Protected content pm
The Mural paintings are created with a three-dimensional concept based on themes of festivals, customs and ancient monument.
The Traditional Market is done in a performance concept whereby 7 actors who carry seven types of Malaysian traditional snacks in two baskets slung on a pole across their shoulders meandering their ways through the hectic crowd. The 7 types of snacks are: Ding Ding Candy, Ice-cream Bar, Herbal Tea Egg, Boiled Peanuts, Fish Ball + Dim Sum, Candied Fruit covered with sugar coating.
The Stage Performances consists a total of 15 performances including 6 sessions in the mornings and 9 sessions at night with Folk Dance, Lion Dance, Diabolo Performance, Cantonese Opera, "Cai Shen" Performance, Hainanese Drama and Singers performing CNY songs with hometown accents.
