The official AOC designation, established in the Protected content to codify Burgundy’s appellations, encompassed this village’s mosaic of climats, including a spectrum of premier crus and smaller allocation of grand cru vineyards, that each express subtle geological variation across limestone, marl and clay soils. In this context the communal wines embody more than a style; they reflect a lineage of vineyard delineation and place-specific expression that has shaped Burgundy’s red wine traditions for generations.
