Silent Night Opera
Silent Night transports us to Protected content , where Scottish, French, and German soldiers are caught in the brutality of war. But on one remarkable night, their weapons fall silent. On Christmas Eve, Scottish, French, and German soldiers defy orders and negotiate a truce, putting down their weapons to play soccer and share stories and songs around a makeshift tree. Their commanders reprimand their peaceful actions, but the soldiers' humanity shines through. Protected content opera is sung in English, French, German, Italian, and Latin. The music's style changes to match the character's country of origin, and juxtaposes the sounds of war with serene songs from home. Protected content Protected content
