Dogs in Amman

I am moving to Amman for 2 years. I would love to bring my 11 year old dog, however from what I have read... Amman is not dog friendly:

- no Dog parks, few options to go walking with your dog (I will live in an apartment near the 4th circle - no garden)
- most locals dont like dogs (I read online that people will cross the street to avoid you, children will stone the dogs in the parks)
- Kennels? (in case I travel)

Can someone who has a dog tell me from experience if it is that bad ...
