With two Grammy nominations and numerous awards under his belt, Iraq-born oud master and composer Rahim Al-Haj has recorded and performed with the Kronos Quartet, the rock band REM, Bill Frisell, Ottmar Liebert, Mamadou Diabate, and many others.
Dr. David Marcus of Georgia State University's School of Music leads this exciting project bringing Mr. Al-Haj's contemporary Arabic music to Atlanta, accompanied by an Arabic orchestra, including string and percussion students from the GSU School of Music.
Baghdad in Exile will give Atlantans a rare glimpse into th depth, passion and beauty of Middle Eastern music and poetry.
