Is Cape Town Safe?

Hi Friends,

I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I receive an very interesting offer from an IT company to work in cape town.

I was in Cape Town the last month and it really liked me, but my girlfriend and me are very frightened about the security issue, we were reading a lot of blog and post which say that it´s not very safe...

Buenos Aires is not the best city talking about safety (But I live here and I know were not to go)... but... I don't would like to relocate if I will be nervous all the time while I'm in the street.

Could you as an expat, give me a real description about the safety issue in the cape?
