Would like to meet some recent American Expats (Cascais)

We are a retired couple from Baltimore expecting to take up residency in Cascais next year. We'll be with a tour group Friday 12/2 through Thursday 12/8 and have most evening free. We're staying at the Vila Gale Hotel and would love to sit down or at least trade emails with an American who recently went through such a move.

We're OK on the big stuff like residency requirements but would like to more of the little details involved in moving a whole household from the US. For instance....

We plan on bringing over two Protected content - will they need modifications?
Will any of our table and floor lamps work with minor modifications or should we just leave them all? We plan on leaving our primary bank, credit cards, and brokerage accounts in the US and wire money to Portugal as needed - is that workable? Possible deal breaker - Will I be able to watch the Baltimore Ravens on TV? How fluent will be have to be in Portuguese initially to get by initially like for shopping? What's the best way to replace all of our 110v appliances with 240v appliances? Is Amazon UK the best way to shop for them or is there a "Best Buy" equivalent in or near Cascais? Most important, what are the relocation questions we don't even know to ask?

Would love to hear from and or meet someone who has already gone through this.

Thanks
Barry Glassman & Dee Lundelius
