moving to Makeni, Sierra Leone (Freetown)

Hi All - My husband has accepted a new job in Makeni, Sierra Leone and we move there next month. I'm from Dubai, and have only lived and worked in the Middle East and Asia, so have no West African experience. I am vegetarian, so very concerned if there will be ample variety of fresh vegtables, and also are international food stuff, modern supermarkets, and homeware items readily available? Are there international-standard hair / beauty salons in Freetown? Are there any authentic Asian restaurants in Freetown? Are there some english bookstores and DVDs? I appreciate any tips and advice about life in SL.
