Motorcycle / Motorbike in Istanbul

Hello folks,

I am a yabancı and want to use a motorbike in Istanbul (yes I'm mad).

My plan is to buy something like a Mondial here in Istanbul (new).

1. What do I need to know about motorcycle ownership for yabancı?
2. What do I need to know about repairs (I don't know anything about them)?
3. For insurance I understand there are 2 types: 1. Government and 2. Private. I don't fully understand the difference. Also I have been told that the private insurance is much more expensive Protected content versus 400TL).
4. Anything else?
