Residence visa & work visa question. (Istanbul)

Hi everyone,

I just had a question about my visas. If my residence visa is good for 6 months, but my work visa in which I'm about to get is going to be good for a year, do I still have to go and renew my residence visa to make it equal to same time allotted for the work visa? or is the work visa enough in my booklet to stay out of trouble?
