Mailing boxes to Jakarta...reliable?

Hi,
I am wondering if I should mail boxes to Jakarta or pack them with me. Is the mail reliable in Jakarta? Do items arrive damaged or not arrive at all? Any suggestions on whether I should travel light, then ship boxes later. This is my first expat experience and first time in SE Asia. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
