Cole Phillips and Akua Walters... (Jamaica)

My mom and I would like to consider moving to Jamaica from Texas. Visited twice, loved it, and will be there again in December on a third cruise. Would you have any suggestions on steps/ procedures involved for preparations to move, and the process of adjusting once settled? I am most interested in facts such as cost of living, safe areas, health care accessibility, long-term rentals, and any other helpful tips you may provide.
