Prepaid phone card (Jeddah)

Hello,
I'm moving to jeddah in a couple of days for work. I've been told it is best to get a SIM card at the airport. Why is that ?
Besides, am i allowed to get one? because i read somewhere that even recharging the card requires an Iqama number
Oh, and having a good internet/ data subscription is important so what would you recommend ?
