A week in Kabul

I have been asked to spend a week in Kabul later in the year for an NGO. I have no idea where to begin with questions. I have done work for this same organization in developing economies and troubled locations in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean and not been concerned. But I have never visited Afghanistan so have no idea what to expect. And of course anything I know today is based on US news reporting.

So- is there anything specific to the country/ city I should know and be asking about now? My sense is that common sense and a little knowledge of the neighborhoods should be sufficient- but that is some of this board is for.

Sad to say this would be a 5 day sprint with little to no time on either end, so anything besides work would only be in town. Any thoughts appreciated.
