Hi Guys, I am hoping someone can clearly explain the expat taxation system to me. I am contracted to work in Kampala with an international company. My salary and housing allowance is paid offshore tax free however my company told me I am liable for tax in Uganda and must provide a tax certificate each year. When I questioned the tax I was advised that as I was paid offshore I would not be liable for tax unless I am paid in Uganda. But I must still obtain a tax certificate. Recently I was told I will be liable for tax at 40% on my gross income plus my housing allowance. Is this correct?
