Advice on international schools (Kuala Lumpur)

Hi everyone -
It's like that my family will be moving to KL in December or January for a few years and we're looking to get my eldest daughter Protected content one of the international schools in Petaling Jaya or Mt. Kiara. However, we've heard back via email from the British Int'l school and Mt. Kiara that the year 1 (which I assume is like kindergarten in the British system) are full.
Has anyone had any experience with going on waiting lists for international schools and know if we have a hope of getting our kid enrolled by the start of the next term (early January)?
I know there are heaps of int'l schools in KL, but also that many are dodgy or scattered around the city. We're looking to live relatively close to Petaling Jaya as that's where my office is.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
