NY Eve in LA (Los Angeles)

Dear LA expats! I need a good suggestions..

I am arriving to LA ijust before NYE and as the city is all new to me, I would be super grateful for couple of good hints and tips on where to spend the NYE. It is one of those nights that one does want be alone nor be stuck in a bad bar/club/party. All your suggestions would be helpful! At least in which area all the good bars are?
