Moving to Bahrain - possibly (Manama)

Soooo, I'm looking at moving to Bahrain for an opportunity. I've lived in many countries, so that doesn't phase me BUT Bahrain? I visited last weekend - seems a bit too small. What is there to do on your days off? Is the expat community active with things to do, see and experience?
