Do you have any difficulty traveling? (Manila)

I am an American expat living in Tokyo. I haven't moved to Manila yet, but I have secured a healthy monthly salary by Filipino standards. My concern is how hard it must be to travel when the average Philippines salary does not convert to much when leaving the country. Do any of you travel much? Is it too much of a burden to travel on the peso?
