Public Transportation / Getting from Paco to Makat (Manila)

Hello,

I will move to Manila in November and found a flat in Paco District. But I will work in Makati District.

Is there anyone, who could give me an idea how difficult/easy it is to get from Paco to Maktai by public transportation.
Googlemaps recommends me to take the Philippine National Railway. How reliable is this specific public transport? Does it runs regularly? How crowded is it? What are the cost for a ticket? etc.

Or does anyone has an better idea then this?
