Documentary at Melbourne International Film Festiv

This is a plug for a documentary that is being shown at the Protected content International Film Festival. The doco was directed by Kim Longinotto and is called ‘Rough Aunties’. It is about a South Africa NGO and it won a grand jury prize at Sundance this year. The charity, Operation Bobbi Bear, is a point of rescue for abused children. This is a hard hitting, emotional piece and I wouldn’t say that it is easy entertainment but it is a story that must be told.
If you’re not able to attend, perhaps pass this on to any Festival buffs who might be interested. I’m keen to get as many people at the viewings as possible.

There is a brief synopsis on page 42 of ‘The Complete Festival Guide’ in today’s Age. There are two screenings scheduled, Mon 27 July 9:15pm (Greater Union Cinema 4) and Sat 1 August 12:15pm (Greater Union Cinema 5).
