Living in Nanning
Nanning, or “The Green City” as it's sometimes referred to, is a large city in southern China that is the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The massive amounts of tropical foliage, tree growth and wildlife give Nanning its nickname. There are thousands of places to visit in the city, and the people there are welcoming and friendly, meaning you won't have trouble fitting in. Newly arrived expats living in Nanning should first try and explore their surroundings in order to absorb the culture and get to know the Chinese way of life. The Guangxi Museum is a good place to start, as it has a fantastic collection that will teach you all you need to know about the history of the region. After you've taken in all the information you possibly can, you can rest in the park by the South Lake in the southeastern part of town. Moving to Nanning
Nanning is a spectacular place to live - the warm climate attracts visitors all year round, and the diverse cultural offerings tempt those visitors to stay. Because of the monsoon-style weather conditions that come and go, the biodiversity in the area is vast - there are hundreds of species of animal, and more than 3,000 species of plant that grow there naturally. Working in Nanning
There are a couple of key industrial zones on the outskirts of Nanning that provide those living in the city with hundreds of jobs, and support the growing economy. The Guilin High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and the Nanning Economic & Technological Development Area are nearby. Nanning also relies heavily on the mining industry, with many deposits of gold and other precious metals lying prominently in the region. If you want to start working in Nanning, but you don't know where to start as an expat, there might be a forum post or thread on the InterNations website that can point you in the right direction. Or if you are simply being sent to work in Nanning by your current employer, you surely be glad for the opportunity to socialize and network with fellow expatriates living in Nanning early on through the InterNations platform.
