PHnom Penh Community College, August Double Workshop: ‘Knitting for Beginners’ & ‘Knitting for Intermediates
’The ages-old art of knitting has experienced a huge resurgence in popularity the past few years and now you have a chance! The workshop will start in the morning with the absolute basics and progress onto more advanced techniques in the afternoon. By the end of the day, you’ll be more than ready to start your own first project.
The morning session will start to learn with the basic steps needed to get started: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and binding off. The most common textures that can be created with the two basic stitches will be covered including rib, garter, moss and stocking stitch. Even if you already know some basics, the class will show you different ways to knit using the continental, English or combined methods and how to understand and work your stitches for different effects.
The afternoon session will cover a variety of increases and decreases, how to read patterns, yarn fibers and needles, finishing, blocking and more!
Absolute beginners should attend the morning session. Those with some knitting experience can opt to join in the afternoon only.
Phnom Penh Community College is located in the heart of BKK1 at The Capacity Specialists Training Centre (Cnr Streets 63 & 294, entrance on Street Protected content .
The workshops will be held on Saturday 14 September, 9am – 12.30pm (Knitting Beginners) and 1.30pm – 5pm (Knitting Intermediate). US$35 for each workshop including materials. US$60 per person for both, or bring a friend and pay US$50 each
