Moving to Rio with work (Rio de Janeiro)

Hi All,

I have just accepted a position with my company that will mean myself and my wife moving from the UK to Rio for 2 years and I am desperately looking for hints, tips and advice. Google does a job but there is nothing like getting real advice from real people! I have so many questions....
Where is the best place to live?
what can I get in my budget?
is it safe to bring my dog with me?
How easy is it to get furnishings etc
and these are just scratching the surface!!! any help would be massively appreciated!
