Freelance Linguistic Tester (US English, onsite) (Shanghai)

DataForce by TransPerfect is looking for a freelance Linguistic Tester (US English) willing to engage in a long-term opportunity and be part of an innovative project.

Work location: on-site in Shanghai (client premises), China
Start date: June Protected content date to be communicated)
Work schedule: the expert will work on the client’s premises for Protected content , on demand
Duration: long-term opportunity
Engagement mode: Freelance basis/Independent contractor

<Role responsibilities>
The selected candidate will be testing linguistic and functional features of our client's in-car system UI. The test will be conducted on-site with access to the touchscreen installed in the car. The candidate will report functional and linguistic issues in translation from Chinese into English as well as make suggestions on fixes based on automotive industry standards and the US English market.

<Job requirements>
•Native speaker of US English
•Advanced proficiency in Chinese
•A degree in translation, linguistics, or a related degree where language studies, linguistics, or translation was a major component
•1+ years' experience in translation/localization review, user testing, LQA, or any related quality assurance role in translation/localization
•Translation/localization experience in the automotive industry or an understanding of how to drive and how an e-car works
•Located in or able to travel to work in Shanghai.

<Skills preferred>
•Driver's license
•Translation certification from a local accreditation body (e.g. ATA, or equivalent)
•3+ years' experience in translation from Chinese into English (not English into Chinese)
•Have experience in automotive digital interface QA experience (similar working experience with E-Car)
•Experience in digital interface copywriting or a related field
•Certification with a local translation accreditation body is a plus.
