New Year in St. Petersburg

I am planning to be in St. Petersburg around new year and celebrate new year there. Are there any nice places to go out that you can recommend? Some places that have fun and friendly and safe athmostphere and in downtown.
Can someone also recommend good restaurants and bars for activities around that time?
we are planning to be international group aged Protected content .
