Anybody interested or just open-minded on contemporary art should pay a visit to the 'Art is Arp' exhibition in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Strasbourg.
"The exhibition presented at the Museum of Modern Art sheds light on the different creative processes governing the work of an artist at the crossroads of practices: poet, painter, sculptor and draftsman. As the exhibition demonstrates, Arp constructs by turns, a work finding its origin in the refusal of traditional practices, destruction, often by chance or again in collaboration with other artists such as Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Theo Van Doesburg in the design and construction of the Aubette decors."
Hans Jean Arp was born in Strasbourg in the 19th century but lived in many places, amonst which in Switzerland, where he co-founded the Dada movement. The exhibition is great fun if you just let yourself be surprised by the various pieces 'organisées selon les lois du hasard', according to the artist's own definition.
