Commute, Attorney, buying a car, electric scooter (Sydney)

I'm moving to Sydney to do my PhD at MQ Uni. Would like advice/recommendations on four things:

one - anyone know a good used car salesman (or selling a used Toyota?). I'll be coming end of March to get a car.

two - anyone know of a good attorney (knowledgable in immigration issues) or if there is a body of government or free/less expensive advocacy group - to get information and advice regarding immigration issues

three - would be insane or ok to commute from Redfern to MQ? the commute would only be 3x/week....how long would it take? where would you guys live (in city) to commute to NRyde?

finally - anyone ever ride on one of those electric scooters? thinking of getting one to throw in the trunk for when I need to park far away at uni. are they...safe ...useful ...or...well, whats the scoop on that?
