Sydney Funnel Web spiders - a real concern or not?

Hi guys, I have recently moved to Sydney and was wondering about the funnel web spiders as I am quite concerned about them - are these common to encounter or not so common in the summer? And are there any areas I should avoid finding an apartment in if I want to decrease my chance of an encounter? I am currently staying temporarily in Chatswood - is that location a good choice regarding the above? Please advise.
