Living in Taiyuan
Located in the north of China, Taiyuan is the capital of the country’s Shanxi province. The name ‘Taiyuan’ translates to ‘Great Plains’ whilst it is also known as ‘Bingzhou’ in relation to the city’s past as a part of the Bing Province in Ancient China. Taiyuan has a fascinating history, and expatriates living in Taiyuan will be able to explore some of its most well-known sights, such as the Tianlong Shan Stone Caves which feature sculptures dating back to the Tang dynasty, the Twin-Pagoda Temple whose unique architecture has led to it becoming a symbol of the city, the Chongshan Monastery and many others. The city also offers plenty in terms of parks and open spaces, and expats living in Taiyuan will also be able to soak up the city’s culture as well as the local cuisine, featuring the best known noodle cuisine in China.
