duties and VAT (Trinidad & Tobago)
My husband and I are moving to Trinidad in December for a 3-year post. We are currently sorting our belongings and deciding what to pack/donate/sell.
I'm confused about import duties and VAT, even after visiting this website: Protected content
Would any of you who have relocated from another country please share your experiences regarding taxation - is EVERY single item that comes along with us subject to taxation? I see that "personal effects" are excluded from taxation, but it says "household goods" are not exempt - but I don't find an explanation of what is considered to be "household goods."
I don't see a listing for books on the website - are books taxed?
Thanks in advance for your patience and your assistance.
