JOB: Early Childhood Fine Arts Teacher (part-time) (Vienna)

The American International School Vienna is a vibrant multicultural community committed to teamwork and excellence, and is now looking to recruit a part-time (40%) Elementary School Early Childhood Art & Music Teacher.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a locally hired position. Relocation allowances do not apply to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A valid teacher certificate with certification/training for Art and Music Primary Education with experience working in elementary schools.
- Experience in working with children from multicultural and diverse language backgrounds
- Fluent English speaker

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates on the planning and development of the curriculum with the Early Childhood Learning Team as well as the elementary school Art, and Music teams.
- Plans and implements a developmentally appropriate Art and Music curriculum using ideas and concepts of the NCCAS National Core Arts Standards.(Creating, Performing, Responding, and Connecting).
- Experience working with a variety of art materials, tools, techniques and processes; drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramic, collage, textile, and sculpture.
- Ability to inspire students through knowledge of art history, culture, and contemporary art scene
- Knowledge of early childhood music pedagogy, in particular with singing, movement, classroom instruments, creativity, and play.
- A confident singer and an ability to play a chordal instrument such as guitar, piano, or ukulele

STUDENT SUPERVISION
- Refers child learning and safeguarding concerns to appropriate school personnel.
- Enforces school expectations for student safety and behavior consistently and equitably.
- Communicates concerns to appropriate teachers or administrators.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports elementary school concerts, exhibits, and other parent events to celebrate student learning accomplishments.
- Works with colleagues and administration to create a program that reflects best practices and student learning needs.
- Create and design assessments based on AIS learning standards.
- Evaluates student performance for report cards against AIS standards every trimester.
- Communicates with parents and staff on individual student learning needs and conducts Parent Teacher conferences.
