JOB: High School Learning Support Assistant (Vienna)

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
- Experience working with appropriately-aged students, preferably in an academic setting and/or with academic tasks

JOB GOAL
Enrich the educational experience of students at AIS by assisting the teachers with supplemental instruction including developing skills and strategies, classroom management, student supervision, clerical tasks, and other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teaching and Learning Performance
- Provides individual and small group assistance to students in collaboration with and supervised by classroom teachers.
- Provides individual learning support, resources, and materials for identified students in the Learning Support program in collaboration with and supervised by Learning Support and/or classroom teachers
- Communicates and collaborates with the classroom teacher and/or LS teachers on individual student progress
- Provides academic and social-emotional learning feedback to students

2. Student Supervision
- Assists with classroom and student management under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Refers child learning and safeguarding concerns to appropriate school personnel.
- Enforces school expectations for student safety and behavior consistently and equitably.
- Communicates concerns to appropriate teachers or administrators.
- Perform additional support and responsibilities as needed, for example, proctoring exams, chaperoning trips, recess and cafeteria duties, etc.

3. Clerical
- Completes administrative tasks such as copying, bulletin boards, and computer data entry efficiently and accurately as needed.

4. Professional Conduct
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, initiative in the performance of duties, and flexibility working with others in a variety of circumstances, environments, and different sizes and ability ranges of groupings
- Maintains a high level of professional behavior and confidentiality of information about students and their families.
- Contributes to a positive school climate by forming positive relationships with students, teachers, and administrators.
- Demonstrates effective communications skills with students, teachers, and parents.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills in managing time and responsibilities.

HOURS
Instructional Assistants' core hours are from 08:00 until 15:15 unless otherwise made clear by the principal.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Instructional Assistants will be evaluated in writing at least once a year by their direct supervisors/teachers in charge, and if there are concerns regarding the evaluation, they should be put in writing and referred to the relevant Principal. IAs will also meet with their supervisors to work on goals and objectives for the year.
