Friendship between Men-Women: Reality or Utopia?

I sometimes wonder if it is possible to have a friendship between a man and a woman. How long could they last and what are the criteria / terms that could be used to build them?
Do we think realistically, if it comes in our sense to have something like that or do we live in a "dream world"?
Are there also pros and cons? What speaks for or against it?
