Almost four out of 10 people have lied about their reading habits to make a good impression, a survey suggests. Men are more likely to exaggerate about how much they've read. Among teenagers, 74% admitted to lying about their reading, with most saying they would pretend to have read social networking pages or song lyrics. One in five adults said they would read their chosen material while waiting for their date to arrive in the hope of making a good first impression.
Have you lied about your reading to impress someone? Which books have you fibbed about reading? Have you ever been caught out? Would you be impressed by someone who seems to be well-read?
