Immigrating and working in Australia

Dear InterNations Community,

I'm thinking about immigrating to Australia, first of all for job reasons.

Can anyone provide some useful information,advice etc. regarding visa regulations, working permit, point systems etc. (I'm a German citizen, how are the regulations for Germans/EU-citizens), where to start, how to apply for a permanent visa etc.

I'm a gradutae in international relations and political sciences, got 3 years of working experience in the field of academics, PR, and NGO.
