taking fruit into the UK?

Hey folks,
i am heading back to london from brasil, and have lots of room in my bags, so thought i would fill my bag with fresh limes and a couple of bottles of cachça to make caiparinhas for my hosts.
Does anyone know if you are allowed to bring fruit into the UK in your luggage - i know you cant into some countries, but i cannot find out if it allowed in the UK?
