To fake or not to fake..that is the question..

After having seen 2 documentaries in Spanish TV ( Equipo de investigacion) around Intruders( people excerising professional with no credentials or inaccurate professional credentials ) and Academic fraudsters in Spain.( There was a type of "mafia" around people who bought academic credentials in Spain and in South Amercian countries, which supringsly seems to be more often and easier than we think .
(People who buy fake credentials are prosecuted under Spanish criminal Law).
I am curious on how this is treated in the different word legislations.
In Spain giving inaccurate CV data or upgrading professional credentials is not considered punitive act per se, however if the fraudster is discovered this could lead to dismissal in the case os private companies or in some cases given the fact of mischivious publicity they could be liable of criminal offenses( in the case of professional excerise such as medical or legal), however in the practise it is quite difficult that they will be no more than fined or they can be considered fraudster which could only embarrase themselves( however for academic fraudster /fakers I dont feel they will give a damn as they are shameless
They gave some critical examples of "cosmetologist"( it seems that this is the name given in South America to Hairdressers Technics ) which according to them could act as type of "doctors" or the case of a "lawyer" who give assistance in a bar as he has no professsional site or so ever and was not registered as such, or another case of "Dentist"which was not a dentist at all but a Tehcnitian in her country of origin.

Also there were examples of professional excering with no homologation of their country degrees to the Spanish acadmic system.
From an ethical and deontological prospective is disgraceful that people need to fake or upgrade academic/ professional credentials as to get more attiring CV towards potetial employees.
I know that in Germany "academic indignity" is considered a criminal offence, and hence is prosecuted.

But you know that moral and criminal law are different treated as what is consider abmoral from an ethical prospective might be not prosecuted from a Law one.

Which is the prospective in your different countries?

Thanks
