Travelling to Delhi in January 2014

Hi,

I would be travelling to Delhi in January of the coming year. It would pretty much be a back pack kinda solo travel. Would like some suggestions on the to-do's and must visit local places and hangouts around delhi. Also, would be fun if i get some company from locals or expats who have been in delhi for quite a while... or any travellers making a similart trip during that time..!!
