We don't need hope?

Hello world,
"If you ever find yourself in a place where you need hope then your only hope is to get out of that place as fast as you can ..."
Do you agree?
Do we still need Hope as humans? Or is needing Hope a weakness today? One of our "selling points" for a new school for young entrepreneurs in Amsterdam is that we want to bring Hope to the world. But I wonder, do people see such a message as wishy-washy neo-Hippie irrelevant over-optimism?
What is HOPE for you? Do you need it? What is it? Do we owe it to each other, our children, or should we talk instead of SOLUTIONS?
