an adventurous doctor
to assist
Women of the Tibetan Nomad Tribes

THE GOLOG FOUNDATION
The Golog Support Foundation was founded by Lama Jigmé Namgyal,
himself born & raised a nomad in the remote, poor & still largely Tibetan etnic Golog region of Tibet. The nomads define their most urgent needs – so far a school, medical assistance & care for orphans – and the Foundation tries to assist both practical & financially:
-Dutch branch: Protected content
-Luxemburg branch: Protected content
Lama Jigmé asked me to co-ordinate a new project within the Healthcare section, focusing on women’s health.
YOUR PROFILE
oWestern schooled medical doctor, preferably GP or obstetrican-gynealogist
oPreferably female
oMidwife, dentist, ophthalmologist and other profiles are welcome too, within the general functioning of the two medical centers
oPreferably with experience working in developing countries or war zones
oExcellent physical condition Protected content altitude)
oGood people skills & intercultural tolerance - able to provide training
oAbility to live, travel & work in very basic conditions
oGood English skills (to interact with translator to Tibetan)
OUR OFFER
ounique experience with recluded Nomad tribes in breathtaking (also literally) environment
opossibility to encounter Tibetan medecine (not in Golog but on the way) and have close contact with Lama Jigmé Namgyal, local teachers & monastics
oVolunteer position; flight to Bejing & basic transport; accomodation, food, translator offered

LIVING & WORKING CONDITIONS
oThe area is very remote, people live without or little water
oSex education is nearly nonexistent; Western medicine not very known; high mortality at childbirth; little birth control available and with the influx of Chinese STD are on the rise (for those curious: the tantric teachings being reserved to advanced practitioners)
