Which neighborhood to live in Helsinki?

Thanks for the comments from my previous post regarding Helsinki. I was wondering whether anyone has any recommendations regarding which neighborhood to live find an apartment? I'm looking for somewhere safe, clean, and conveniently located near shops/restaurants (similar to the Marina or North Beach districts in San Francisco)? Thanks!
