Summer Night at the Castle
Since its inception, the Summer Night Concert has been dedicated to a singular vision: presenting classical music to the widest possible audience as a gift to music enthusiasts everywhere. For those of you new to Vienna, this is a hugely popular open-air concert performed by the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic on the magnificent grounds of Schönbrunn Palace.
This year, Lorenzo Viotti will conduct the Summer Night Concert for the very first time, featuring the acclaimed Welsh opera singer Sir Bryn Terfel as the evening's soloist. Terfel will perform arias from Arrigo Boito’s Mefistofele and Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff, the finale from Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold, and the beloved "If I Were a Rich Man" (Tevye’s song) from Jerry Bock’s musical Fiddler on the Roof.
In addition, dancers from the Vienna State Ballet will bring the ancient tale of Daphnis and Chloé to life. Performing to the sounds of Maurice Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2, in a choreography by Eno Peçi, their movements will be projected as striking “shadow figures” across the palace façade.
We look forward to seeing you at one of Vienna's finest cultural events!
