Join us in the gorgeous Salón Carlos III at the renowned Teatro Real and experience the electrifying music of the critically acclaimed composer Ross Avant with the European première of his sensational second cello suite, as it is performed by the rising talent Alicia Fernández Baez. Dedicated to the groundbreaking cultural critic, essayist, aesthetician and media theorist, Walter Benjamin, as a meditation on finality, sacrifice, and the power of resilience, this is an evening not to be missed!
ARTISTS
ROSS AVANT (Évois Management | BMI): Lauded as penning ¨important...monumental¨ (New York Concert Review) and “timelessly mesmerising compositions of sound” (A&R Factory), and as the only protégé of legendary jazz musician, Jim Cullum, has worked on various television programmes, films, and has written music for the theatre. He is also a proud member of The Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Ivors Academy, and The Songwriters Hall of Fame. He divides his time between his ateliers in Madrid and New York. ALICIA FERNÁNDEZ BAEZ: A native of Cuba, Baez has worked with orchestras and chamber groups including the Persé Ensamble and famed Cuban artist Liuba María Hevia. She also teaches music at the Colegio Nuestra Señora de Schoenstatt, and the Colegio Concertado Bilingüe Edith Sten.
