Join us in the for to celebrate the first major work by an African American to be performed by a major US orchestra (Still's Afro-American Symphony); the first African American woman to have her music played by a major U.S. orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (Price); the first black composer to receive the Pulitzer Prize in Music (Walker); and the first African American to conduct a major American orchestra in a performance of his own works (Still with the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl).
