Let´s enjoy CARNIVAL spirit at dinner table...
Dear foodie friends,
Carnival in Portugal has a long tradition and millenary roots, and is still one of the most important "cycles" of the country. Although it is a celebration with greater prominence in the urban means, it also owns characteristics of rural means.
The Torres Vedras Carnival is known as being "the most Portuguese in Portugal". The party remains faithful to the traditions that popularised it in the street, from Protected content , when the king was received, and a year later the queen joined him. The model of the Carnival Kings still persists, but living up to social and political satire, it is composed of two male figures. The centre of the city serves as a stage for jokes, to the Corsican in which large floats flock, the loudspeakers, the heads, the parade groups and the "Zés-Pereiras", ending with the burial of the Entrudo (king's condemnation).
Here, one sees an Entrudo with a strong satirical load, based on caricatures of public personalities (by politics), culminating with fireworks.
Thus the Carnival in Portugal have a great tradition, In addition to these mentioned, considered the most relevant of the country, there is a little from north to south carnival festivities, such as the Loures that dates back to Protected content has the largest group of organised Carnival of the country: "Mastronças"; Sines, Elvas (called the International Carnival of Elvas);
The Carnival of Canas de Senhorim has almost Protected content and unique traditions like the "Pizões", the "Paneladas", Burning of the Entrudo, Despique among others.
