Dear group,

we had missed a true mountain excursion so here's to you!

This is going to be a scenic loop in a glacial valley, reaching Monte Rondinaio on the ridge between Emilia and Tuscany.

We will start from a Lago Santo Modenese and slowly hike uphill through a beech forest and reach a second small lake. We will then head up to the top of the glacial cirque, reaching Monte Rondinaio (very easy scrambling is needed).

A very steep downhill on rugged terrain will lead us to a third small lake. We will then follow the path through a woodland patch and get back to Lago Santo Modenese.

Here are some characteristics of the excursion:

Total length: about 8 km
Total climb altitude: Protected content
Max altitude: Protected content
Expected duration: Protected content
Difficulty level: high - no dangerous passages, just steep paths!
Duration: day trip, packed mid-day lunch

Required equipment:
Suitable dressing for the weather forecast, trekking shoes, water 1.5L min.

Carpooling will be attempted to reach the starting point of the hike but seats for everybody cannot be guaranteed.

Therefore, please consider using your own mean of transportation to reach the starting point; I'd be really grateful if you can offer seats to other participants!

Pls send me a private message to let me know if you need a lift and to provide your Whatsapp contact.
