Visit Museums together in Leiden
Dear Amazing People,
Let’s pay a visit to Leiden in the beautiful weather of March. This time we will visit two interesting museums presenting old things: Museum Volkenkunde (National Museum of Ethnology) and Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities).
Rijksmuseum van Oudheden is the national center for archaeology, and focuses on ancient Egypt, the ancient Near East, the classical world of Greece, Etruria, Rome, etc. The current exhibition includes “Gods of Egypt”, “Mummies in Bruges”, “Scan for Syria”, etc. Now every day at 13:30 there is a super cool light show in English to celebrate its Protected content anniversaries.
Museum Volkenkunde focuses on people and cultural diversity, and its aim is to open your eyes on the world: from Bali to Guatemala, from Oceania to the Arctic regions and from Mecca to Djenné. Currently they are exhibiting cultural objects from Bali and Australian Aboriginal Arts.
If you have a museum card, both museums are for free. If you do not have a museum card, they will charge you 12.5 euros and 15 euros separately.
Our specific schedule:
If you also come from Rotterdam Central Station, we will meet at 11:35 at the central station and take the train at 11: Protected content together. Otherwise we will see each other at 12:30 at Leiden Central Station.
We will firstly visit the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden and take a tea break around 14: Protected content .
At 15:00 we will go to Museum Volkenkunde (about 10 minutes by walk) and stay there until 17:00.
After 17:00, we can find a place for a social drink.
Looking forward to seeing you on March 9!
