Screening of the Film “Siberia in the Bones” (2020)
The film depicts one of the most painful chapters in Bessarabia's history – the Stalinist deportations of Protected content . This docudrama is based on the accounts of four victims who were forcibly deported to Siberia during the night of July 6-7, Protected content , in the second wave of deportations. Each segment tells its own story, and together they illustrate the horrors and tragedies endured by tens of thousands of Bessarabians during the Stalin era. Through its blend of real testimonies and fictionalized sequences, the film conveys the historical events and the profound emotions of those who lived through them, transforming the historical documentary into a deeply moving cinematic experience.
Director Leontina Vatamanu will be present, the film will be followed by a Q&A session with the director and a presentation of the book “Bessarabia and Transnistria in the Soviet Gulag” by Maria Gogu Zinovii.
